Our fresh 2025 harvest extra virgin olive oil comes in a new, stylish 750 mL bottle. Every bit as distinctive as our old bottles, the new bottles have several features which make them an improvement over the cobalt blue flip-top bottles we’ve used for the last 3 harvests.
First, our new bottles are much more functional. The ring-shaped handle makes the bottle much simpler to hold and tip without slipping. The “beak” makes pouring just the right amount of olive oil easier, minimizing spills and overpours. The removable cork top maintains an air-tight seal without getting in the way. And they look great, too!
Second, and more importantly, our new bottles are ethically made. We know that our customers loved the look of our beautiful old cobalt blue glass bottles. However, as we learned more about how cobalt is mined, we decided that we could not in good conscience continue to use the blue bottles for our olive oil.
Cobalt mining often involves dangerous working conditions, child labor, and human rights abuses. In contrast, our new bottles are 100% ethically manufactured and every bit as unique and stylish as the old ones.
Our choice of a dark glass bottle was deliberate. Olive oil should always be packaged in dark, UV-protective glass bottles to block harmful ultraviolet light, which can cause oxidation and degrade the olive oil's quality. Early harvest olive oil is high in polyphenols and antioxidants, which can break down in sunlight. Dark glass is particularly effective in preserving the flavor and overall freshness of olive oil by minimizing light exposure, ensuring that our single source olive oil is good to the last drop!
